The Institute of Airport Economics (IAE) is the first institute in china which specializes in the theory and practice of the airport economy (aviation economy). Professor Cao Yunchun, who raised the concept of ”Airport Economy” for the first time, serves as the director. He is mainly engaged in airport, aerotropolis, aviation logistics, airport economy (aviation economy) and so on.
The institute undertakes more than 40 projects on airport, airport economy and aviation logistics, cooperating with well-known research and consulting organizations such as British Atkins, Korea Maritime Institute and China International Engineering Consulting Corporation. The main cities include Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chongqing, Kunming, Qingdao, Nanning, Hohhot, Tangshan, Foshan, Daqing, etc. It has won the second prize of Science and Technology Award of Beijing Shunyi District, Science and Technology Award of China Civil Aviation Administration and Tianjin Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award. The institute has become China's most influential and professional airport economic research institution, and it has far-reaching impact on the theory and practice of airport economy’s development.
