A fourth-generation Memphian, Steve Cohen was elected to Congress in 2006 and is a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Judiciary Committee. As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Congressman Cohen has the opportunity to represent the interests of the Memphis transportation community as well as fight for policies that benefit Memphis' world-class infrastructure and the hundreds of local transportation businesses. In just three terms, Congressman Cohen has emerged as a leader in aviation and aerotropolis policy. Last year, Congressman Cohen introduced the Aerotropolis Act of 2010, the first ever federal aerotropolis legislation and a bill that could direct hundreds of millions of dollars to the development of aerotropolis transportation systems. Congressman Cohen also worked to include aerotropolis language into the House proposed Federal Aviation Administration Authorization that directs the Secretary of Transportation to encourage the development of aerotropolis transportation systems.
