Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), the operator of Abu Dhabi's five airports, has raised its recycled waste target to 25% by 2011.
ADAC has set the new goal after achieving its target to recycling 18% of the waste generated at Abu Dhabi International Airport and the company's headquarters.
This year's waste management strategy will be accompanied by a company-wide recycling awareness campaign, expanding it gradually to all five airports. The campaign aims to inspire and motivate all the members of the airport community to play their role to achieve the 25% target.
Jim Bennett, ADAC CEO, commented: "We have today raised the bar in environmental sustainability in the region's airports industry. As a responsible corporate citizen and an aspiring leader in airport sustainability, we have applied environmental and waste management policies with an objective to recycle 25% of waste. ADAC's Corporate Responsibility initiatives showed positive results in 2010, including our waste management strategy, and I am confident of their continued success this year."
