Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certificate for the sustainable construction of its TransPort office building at Schiphol-East, the first time it has been awarded in the Netherlands.
Awarded by the United States Green Building Council (USGB), the LEED certificate assesses construction projects within five 'environmental' criteria; sustainable sites; water efficiency; energy and the atmosphere; materials and resources; and indoor environmental quality. Platinum is the highest level that can be awareded
"We started the construction of TransPort three years ago with the aim of constructing a sustainable, commercial office building to the highest international standards," said Maarten de Groof, executive vice president & CCO of Schiphol Group.
