Logistics firm Apollo Freight, has started to build a 16,000sqft perishable goods centre on land directly next to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

This will be built on 37,000sqft of newly acquired warehouse space adjacent to LAX.
Apollo's new perishable goods centre will include temperature controlled working, staging and cargo screening areas to ensure total cold chain protection, and will have customised pre-cooler units for flowers, specific fruits and vegetables.
The facility will also be a TSA certified cargo-screening facility.
Ivo Skorin, vice president and CEO of Apollo Freight, said: "Our expansion comes as we celebrate our second anniversary.
"Our customers will now benefit from our hands-on service both on-airport and off-airport at LAX. No other perishable logistics provider can offer that level of service."
Meanwhile, the company will offer inventory management, order processing, quality inspections, repacking and distribution as well as its sea-air programme - picking up ocean containers from the Ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach and de-containerising contents for airfreight services to their final destination.
Additionally, Apollo Freight will continue to offer services for perishables in transit between airlines through Mercury Air Cargo's 12,700sqft perishable goods centre located at LAX.
