The Dubai Metro Green Line will open on Friday (September 9) connecting the emirate's busiest tourist areas, residential areas, business districts and ministry offices, with the airport's Terminal 2.
The 23-kilometre line has now been fully completed with all trains ready to go and all stations already staffed, in preparation for the opening on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has deployed 456 shuttle buses on 39 routes to link the stations with the surrounding neighbourhoods.
The Green Line is the second of the Dubai Metro project, which is now the longest driverless automatic train system in the world at 75 kilometres.
The Red Line opened two years ago on the same day and connects Al Rashidiya to the Jebel Ali Free Zone, passing through Dubai International Airport's Terminal 1.
The Green Line starts at Etisalat station, at Al Qusais near Emirates Road.
It then moves on to Al Qusais, Dubai Airport Free Zone (Dubai International Airport's Terminal 2), Al Nahda, Al Qiyadah station on Al Ittihad road, Abhu Hail, Abu Baker Al Siddique, Salah Uddin and then Union station, where it intersects with the Red Line.
The Green Line then moves through Baniyas Square, Palm Deira, Al Ras, Al Ghubaiba. Al Fahidi, Khalid bin Al Waleed and to Dubai Healthcare City.
Fourteen trains will be operated on the Green Line during peak times and 10 trains during off-peak hours and the service frequency will range from six to eight minutes.
The Dubai Metro is operated by Serco under contract to the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority.
