Larry Cox, CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, has been appointed as the new chairman of the board for the Greater Memphis Chamber.

Cox, who has been CEO of Memphis International Airport for the last 39 years, will take up his new role at the Chamber on January 1, 2012.
Speaking about his new position, Cox said: "I am honoured to have the opportunity to continue the momentum that this chamber has built over the past few years.
"This year alone, the chamber has played a significant role in recruiting and retaining companies, such as Electrolux, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, KTG, and Great American Steamboat Co.
"Whether through its Small Business Council, Existing Business Team, or Community Development programmes, the Greater Memphis Chamber is at the forefront of economic development in Memphis and Shelby County."
A former chairman of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), Cox maintains an active role in addressing industry challenges.
In particular, for the past four years he has been at the forefront of Memphis' transformation into "America's Aerotropolis" through a comprehensive community-wide economic development initiative and service on the Aerotropolis Steering Committee.
John Moore, CEO for the Greater Memphis Chamber, said: "Larry has represented Memphis all over the world and is one of the most respected businessmen in aviation and business development.
"He has served with distinction on our board for several years, and we anticipate great growth under his leadership.
"He has an undeniable vision for excellence and we are fortunate as a chamber, and as a community, that he has stepped forward to lead."
