Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is accelerating the construction of its Sky Train thanks to unexpected additional airport revenues.

The new Sky Train will now connect all terminals by early 2015 - nearly six years earlier than planned.
Stage One of the project - which runs between the regional METRO Light rail System, the airport's east economy parking, and terminal 4 - will open as planned in 2013.
The continuation of the line to the other terminals and the Rental Car Centre - stage two - was originally not scheduled to open until 2020, however due to increased funds the connection to the terminals has now been pushed forward to early 2015.
The extension to the Rental Car Centre is still scheduled for late 2020.
Passenger facility charges and airport revenues will fund the $240 million project, which was originally planned in two stages due to financial constraints.
However, over the last several years the airport has worked to conserve funds in order to speed up the schedule.
Danny Murphy, aviation director at Phoenix Sky Harbor International, said: "We've not only tightened our belts more than ever, but increased passenger numbers means more airport revenues are available to fund important projects."
