Warsaw Chopin Airport handled nearly 41,000 tonnes of cargo in 2010, a 22.8% increase on the previous year and the best result to date.
During 2010 a total of 40,800 tonnes of freight were handled at Chopin Airport - 40,300 tonnes in international traffic, up by 23.5% on 2009 and 573 tonnes in domestic traffic, a drop of 12.7%. The freight arriving in Poland accounted for the majority of cargo traffic and was 23.9 thousand tonnes, whereas outbound traffic reached 16.3 thousand tonnes. In addition, Chopin Airport handled 16.2 thousand tonnes of mail.
The most popular cargo destinations in terms of traffic volume included Leipzig, Cologne and Chicago and in terms of the number of aircraft movements: Paris, Frankfurt and London.
The three largest cargo carriers at Chopin Airport in the order of the number of tonnes carried were LOT Polish Airlines, UPS Airlines and European Air Transport; in the order of the number of operations: LOT, Lufthansa and Swiss.
