Warsaw-Frèdèric Chopin Airport has unveiled an ambitious airport city vision encompassing conference centres, office buildings and fitness clubs.
Locally based JEMS Architects, which is already designing a five star Mariott Renassiance Hotel at the airport, beat off 26 competitors to win the chance to design and now plan the rest of the developments.
Warsaw's airport city will be anchored around the existing Frèdèric Chopin park and include 10 hectares of land set aside for conference centres, galleries catering facilities and landscaping.
The park area will be redesigned as a meadow with groups of trees, a pond and landscaped enscarpment with pedestrian routes and squares.
"The location of the airport city will be its strong point," said Micheal Marzec, director of Warsaw-Frèdèric Chopin Airport.
"Devised under this project, the facilities will be of service to both airport passengers and Warsaw inhabitants, ensuring seamless and effective transportation with the capital and the region," he added.
